Abstract: In her editorial, Silva observes the exponential growth in the
visibility of a new generation of women visual artists from Africa. She
also writes that many major artistic initiatives that have been created
on the continent, in the first decade of the new millennium, have all
been started or headed by women curators and cultural producers.
