Fast food joints and the early grave warning

• QORRO, Edward. Fast food joints and the early grave warning, The Citizen, Sunday 05th February 2012.

Abstract:

This article shows a study that highlights the risks of junk food on health. The journalist shows that customers are not sufficiently informed about the risks. This sector of the food industry is also booming.

Quotation:

“Health experts in the country are warning that the recent proliferation of such food joints in the city has to a great extent led to the emergence of lifestyle diseases, and if not well addressed, it would result in many health repercussions and deaths. Speaking separately to this paper this week, medical doctors and health experts noted that it was saddening to see long queues of customers at such eateries, waiting to be served ‘unhealthy foods’. They cited such diseases as hypertension, diabetes and cancer.
“This is a matter of urgency, the public needs to be told to shy away from such kinds of foods that are likely to affect their lives,” cautioned Dr Lilian Bachuba from the International Medical and Technological University (IMTU).”
